Cookstown district extends into the unspoilt Sperrin mountains to the west and in the east to Lough Neagh – the largest fresh water lake in both Ireland and the UK.

Dr Allen Cooke founded Cookstown in 1628 as a market town. To this day boasts a vibrant Saturday market, which has a Royal Charter dating back to the 17th century. Cookstown today is considered to be the retail capital of Mid-Ulster.
